My bass club held their first tournament of the year today. It was on Lay Lake, launching out of the public launch just above the section of the lake called The Narrows. It rained on and off. The high for the day was around 41 degrees and dropped into the high 30's during the day. Water temperature was ~47 degrees in most places where we fished.
Had a decent day, finished 4th out of 8. Our five fish weighed 9.1 lbs, made up of four spots and one largemouth. We culled six fish, but couldn't catch a kicker fish. Not that it would have mattered, first place had 16 lbs! Second and Third had 9.8 and 9.7 respectively. So we were in the hunt for second but not a chance for first.
Great to be back on the water. Hoping to fish more this year than last. It is good for the soul.
