The Super Bowl is set. After a delightful lunch with my friends Daryl, Julia, and Mike, I got home in time to view most of the Steelers vs. Broncos and watched all of the Seahawks destruction of the Panthers. Being in Alabama, I don't have a real loyalty to any particular NFL team. That is not to say that I don't have preferences, but for the most part I watch the NFL for the pure exhibition of the great game of football played at its best.
The match up between the Seahawks and the Steelers will be a good one I think. I will be casting my support with the Seahawks, if for no other reason than Shaun Alexander and the fact that Seattle is just plainer nicer than Pittsburgh.
I had the privilege of watching Shaun Alexander in person during his four years at the University of Alabama. In fact, the game that he exploded on the scene against LSU in Baton Rouge with 271 yards was also the same night that my romance with my wife was birthed. While I will be away from my bride on Super Bowl Sunday this year, we will both watch the game, cheer for the Seahawks and remember that night in 1996, when Shaun's made his mark on the football world and my life would be forever changed. Go Hawks!
